Police are investigating and a local road is closed after a man died jumping from a bridge in Tuscaloosa early Friday morning.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said they received calls around 8 a.m. that someone had jumped off a bridge near downtown Tuscaloosa.

Taylor said officers responded and unfortunately found the man was deceased.

Jack Warner Parkway is closed at Nick's Kid's Boulevard as this investigation continues, which Taylor said will be handled by the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.

They investigate almost all deaths outside a hospital setting and their involvement does not necessarily indicate foul play.
