Train Derailment Closes Greensboro Avenue at 16th Street Through Friday
A portion of one of Tuscaloosa's busiest downtown corridors is closed for the rest of the week after a train derailment damaged the tracks that cross it.
Tuscaloosa Police said Greensboro Avenue at 16th Street is expected to stay closed through Friday while the railroad track damage is repaired.
The closure sits just south of the Waysider Restaurant and Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Station 1, in a stretch that carries steady traffic between downtown and points south.

Drivers who normally use Greensboro through that intersection should plan an alternate route for the remainder of the week.
Police did not say when the derailment happened or provide any further detail about it.
