This week in Alabama, brace yourself for frigid temperatures and a hard freeze.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Cold Weather Advisory. It will be in effect from Thursday at 7 p.m. until Friday at 10 a.m.
Residents can expect very cold wind chills between 0 and 15 degrees, with the lowest values in the north.

- Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors.
- Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
- To prevent pipes from freezing and bursting, they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
