Pedestrian Struck & Seriously Injured at Skyland & McFarland Intersection
A pedestrian was seriously injured Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of East Skyland Boulevard and East McFarland Boulevard, according to the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
TPD spokesperson Stephanie Taylor said the pedestrian, a 58-year-old man, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are serious but do not appear life-threatening at this time.
TPD's Traffic Homicide Unit responded due to the initial severity of the reported injuries and investigated at the scene.
Investigators determined that a 2013 Kia Optima was traveling south on East McFarland Boulevard and had entered a turn lane to head east on East Skyland Boulevard when the pedestrian stepped into the roadway and was struck.
Portions of the intersection were closed while officers conducted the early stages of the investigation, which remains ongoing.
