14-Year-Old Arrested For Perry County Terrorist Threat

More information has been released about the terroristic threat made to Perry County Schools this past weekend that resulted in their closure for Monday.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a 14-year-old boy has been identified as the person who made the call issuing the threat Sunday morning. He has been arrested and charged.

Due to the youth's age, no other information is being released at this time.

"Perry County Schools will be open and operating on our regular schedule Tuesday, August 25," the system said on their website. "In coordination with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, we have taken appropriate steps to support a safe return to school. We appreciate the patience, cooperation, and support of our families, employees, students, and community. We look forward to welcoming our students and staff back to school tomorrow."

Legislation passed in Montgomery last session has now standardized procedures in threat cases statewide, but individual cases are still handled locally. Violators cannot return to classes until their cases have been adjudicated and a mental health evaluation has been completed.
