A portion of Skyland Boulevard is set to receive a much-needed facelift beginning Monday, June 8.

The Alabama Department of Transportation announced plans to resurface US-11/Skyland Boulevard from US-82/McFarland Boulevard to Pleasant Hill Drive. Crews will conduct resurfacing work during overnight hours.

ALDOT has also planned improvements for Skyland Boulevard turn lanes at intersections with Cypress Creek Avenue, Palisades Drive, and Hargrove Road. These left-turn lanes will be lengthened to improve traffic flow.

With weather permitting, ALDOT anticipates a fall 2026 completion date. While work is underway, lane closures will not be allowed between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. or on Saturdays during which the University of Alabama has a home game planned.

ALDOT recently completed upgrades on Skyland between SR 69 and McFarland Boulevard.
