A long-running road widening project on US-11 in Vance is nearly complete, with ALDOT planning to open both southbound lanes by Friday evening.

The opening completes the four-lane configuration on the approximately seven-mile corridor between Daimler Benz Boulevard in Tuscaloosa County and SR-5 in Bibb County. Both northbound lanes opened in May.

Motorists will now travel on a permanent two-lanes-in-each-direction setup along the full corridor. Crews will continue finishing work on permanent traffic striping and a shared-use path.

ALDOT said the project is designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and support continued industrial growth in the area.
