ALDOT’s Resurfacing of 5.4 Miles of US-43 Near Lake Tuscaloosa Begins Tuesday

Drivers on US-43 in Tuscaloosa County should plan for delays starting this week as ALDOT begins a multi-month resurfacing project.

The project will resurface and install guardrail along a 5.4-mile stretch of US-43 from the Lake Tuscaloosa Bridge to south of Northside Road, with the goal of improving mobility and safety.

Work begins Tuesday, June 30, and is expected to continue through the fall, weather permitting.

A pilot car will guide traffic through the work zone during construction. Drivers should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.

S.T. Bunn Construction Company was awarded the project at a cost of $2.72 million.
