Heartfelt Farewell For Jon Jon In Walker County This Saturday
Four-year-old Jonathan Everette Boley will be laid to rest during services this weekend in Walker County. The youth disappeared New Year's Eve and was then later found decreased partially in a creek in a wooded area near his father's house just north of Jasper.
The obituary provided by Collins-Burke Funeral Home states, "The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Camp McDowell. Bishop Douglas Scharf and Rev. Derrick Hill will officiate."

Jonathan is survived by his mother-Angel Boley; father-Kyle Boley; brother-James "Isaac" Boley; grandparents-Michael and Patricia Gray, Rita Coyne and Jim Boley.
The family extended thank you to all the first responders and volunteers who gave their time and worked tirelessly to find Johnathan and give closure.
In lieu of flowers, and as a way to thank the first responders and volunteers, the family is requesting donations be made to local fire departments or search and rescue teams in honor of Johnathan.
Jonathan's brother Issac is thought to be the last person to see "Jon Jon," as he was called, before he disappeared into the woods with the dog. Family and friends knew the boy to be an adventurer and like to explore.
A massive search conducted by hundreds of first responders and volunteers was conducted daily until the child was found with his dog Buck waiting beside him for someone to come.
An initial autopsy found no sign of trauma or assault-type injuries to the child according to the Walker County Sheriff's Office. While foul play is not suspected, further forensic investigation is being conducted.
Jon Jon and his brother, whose parents are separated, were visiting their father from Florida over the holidays when the tragedy took place.
