Earnest sustained serious injuries, and King said he and the driver of the Challenger were both transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment. Earnest was pronounced dead a short time later.

King said the crash occurred along Highway 69 near the 138 mile marker, two miles south of Tuscaloosa.

Nothing further is available at this time as the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continues its investigation.
