DCH Names New Chief Human Resources Officer From Tennessee Health System

Tuscaloosa's DCH Health System has named Dennis Fisher as its new Chief Human Resources Officer, effective Monday.

In a press release, DCH said Fisher brings more than 20 years of human resources leadership experience in healthcare, with a career focus on employee engagement and retention, leadership development, performance management and workforce strategy.

He most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Maury Regional Health in Columbia, Tennessee, a three-hospital system with approximately 3,100 team members.

A DCH spokesperson said during his tenure there, Fisher implemented an HR Business Consultant model, developed strategies to reduce reliance on agency nursing, established a gig workforce to help avoid bed closures, launched a comprehensive wellness program and built out workforce and succession-planning initiatives. He also helped reduce controllable turnover through improved onboarding and generated significant annual savings through focused contract review.

"People are at the heart of every successful healthcare organization, and I look forward to listening to our caregivers, learning from their experiences and partnering with leaders across DCH to create an environment where our people feel supported, valued and empowered to do their best work," Fisher said.

Fisher's healthcare career also includes leadership roles with Baptist Memorial Health Systems, Northeast Georgia Health System and Wellstar Health System, along with earlier experience working directly with patients and families in customer service and behavioral health roles. He holds an MBA with a concentration in Human Resources from Keller Graduate School of Management and a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Jackson State University. He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and holds the SHRM-SCP credential.

DCH Chief Operating Officer Mallary Myers said Fisher's background made him a strong fit for the role.

"His extensive healthcare experience and proven track record of developing people and strengthening organizations make him an excellent addition," Myers said. "We are confident his leadership will help us continue to advance our workforce strategies and support our caregivers across the health system."
