Beloved Tuscaloosa Pharmacy Relocating Into New Five Points Piggly Wiggly When It Opens

When the new Five Points Piggly Wiggly store opens in East Tuscaloosa this fall, a beloved local pharmacy is moving in with them, just across the street from its current location.

According to an announcement from B&W Foods, Tuscaloosa Drug Company will relocate into the large new Piggly Wiggly, which is replacing the last Winn-Dixie store to close in the region.

Tuscaloosa Drug Company has served Five Points for more than a decade, and the move keeps the independent pharmacy close to its longtime patient base while pairing pharmacy and grocery services under one roof.

"We've always believed that strong local businesses help build strong communities," said Jay Welborn, co-owner of B&W Foods. "Tuscaloosa Drug Company has built a great reputation and strong relationships in Five Points, and we're excited to welcome them into our new store. Andrew Parrish, pharmacist and co-owner of Tuscaloosa Drug Company, said the move reflects a shared commitment to community-focused service.

The new Piggly Wiggly, announced earlier this year, will be B&W Foods' sixth location in Tuscaloosa County and eighth overall. In addition to housing Tuscaloosa Drug Company, the store will feature Piggly Wiggly West Alabama's first full-service bakery, deli and floral departments in Tuscaloosa, along with a specialty meat case offering custom cuts.
