Tuscaloosa Authorities Investigate Multiple Shootings During Vanderbilt Game Weekend
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating multiple charges of attempted murder after two separate shooting incidents this weekend.
VCU Captain Jack Kennedy said the Tuscaloosa Police Department and the VCU responded to a shooting the evening of Saturday, October 4, and a shooting in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 5, 2025, in addition to a fatal shooting at a storage unit event venue off Greensboro Avenue.
Shooting at Cottondale Efficiency Apartments
Kennedy said the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office and the Tuscaloosa Police Department were called to the Cottondale Efficiency Apartments at 8 p.m.
A residence and multiple vehicles had been broken into, and injuries from broken glass were also reported from several victims.
Multiple charges are pending in the case Kennedy said remains an active investigation.

Shooting in 800 Block of 33rd Avenue
Tuscaloosa Police responded to another shooting in the 800 Block of 33rd Avenue just after midnight Sunday, where one victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Kennedy said the Violent Crimes Unit has assumed the active investigation.
