Moundville Woman Arrested for Tuscaloosa Arboretum Shooting, Victim May Not Survive
Police have arrested a Moundville woman and charged her with attempted murder after a Monday shooting at the UA Arboretum in Tuscaloosa that her alleged victim may not survive.
In a Tuesday morning update, Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said UAPD and Tuscaloosa Police were called to the Arboretum at around 1 p.m. on Monday.

The University of Alabama owns the nature preserve in eastern Tuscaloosa, primarily celebrating regional plant life while also offering a quiet place to hike or gather in small groups.
Kennedy said a man had been shot and suffered life-threatening injuries, and the shooter had fled the scene.
The VCU took over the investigation and determined the victim, a man, had been shot during a domestic argument with the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Jone Vshal Bates.
Neither Bates nor the victim is affiliated with the university, Kennedy said.
Bates was located late Monday and charged with Attempted Murder and committed to jail with no bond.
"The victim is currently being treated, and it is unknown if he will recover," Kennedy said. "If he does not survive, the charges will be upgraded to Murder."
