2 Juveniles, 2 Adults Arrested After West Tuscaloosa Gunfight
Two adults and two juveniles were arrested Wednesday after an early morning gunfight in a residential area of west Tuscaloosa.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said police officers responded to Kaulton Road around 9 a.m. Wednesday after a shooting about 15 minutes before.
One person was shot in the face, but police say his wounds are not life-threatening.
Police also located a vehicle with several suspects inside reportedly trying to leave the area and kept them from fleeing.
"Responding officers and dispatchers did an excellent job of receiving and communicating information to other responding units, which resulted in the suspects being observed trying to flee the area in a vehicle," Kennedy said. "Both suspects were stopped and held for investigators."
Kennedy said investigators believe two of the suspects arrested approached a residence in the area and fired on someone standing outside, potentially motivated by arguments on social media.
The person who was being fired upon then returned fire, and Kennedy said several houses with nothing to do with the shooting were struck by bullets.
At the end of the investigation, two adults and two juveniles were arrested and charged in relation to the gunfight Wendesday.
One of the juveniles will be charged as an adult with attempted murder and with multiple counts of firing into an occupied dwelling. He's been placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail but will not be publicly identified per state law.
A second juvenile was charged with Certain Persons Prohibited to Possess a Pistol as a juvenile and committed to detention.
The "adults" in the case - were 19-year-old Johnny B. Hill Jr., who was charged with attempted murder and several counts off firing into an occupied dwelling
20-year-old Ja’Michael William Bradley was charged with Bond Revocation for a prior first-degree assault charge and committed to jail.
Kennedy said the gunfight may have also violated federal gun law, and the VCU is cooperating with federal police.
VCU is working closely with its federal partners to investigate any possible federal gun charges that may be applicable in this case.
