Marion Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Perry County
A Marion man was killed last Thursday night when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire in Perry County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Sergeant Reginal M. King, a spokesperson for the ALEA State Troopers, said 42-year-old Barry E. Moore was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima that left Perry County Road 23, struck a tree and caught fire.
Moore was not wearing a seat belt, King said, and was pronounced dead at the scene although he could not immediately be identified. Since then, the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences has confirmed the crash victim was the 42-year-old from Marion.
The crash occurred on Perry County Road 23 approximately three miles west of Marion at around 11:30 p.m. last Thursday, July 16th. Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate, King said.
Marion is approximately 45 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa.
