A single-vehicle crash in Walker County has killed a man from North Carolina, officials have confirmed.

Trooper Greg Corble, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said the crash occurred at approximately 3 a.m. Thursday morning. Danny S. Ashe, 50, of Bladenboro, North Carolina was driving along Interstate 22 near the 54-mile marker.

Ashe was driving his 2004 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, when he left the roadway, struck a guardrail and then a bridge. The trailer travelled off the bridge and overturned.

Officers pronounced Ashe dead at the scene The crash occurred approximately seven miles northwest of Jasper.

Nothing else is available at this time as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division continue their investigation.
