A long year is winding down, and the city of Tuscaloosa is preparing to bring back its Holidays on the Plaza experience late this month, bringing ice-skating, decorated Christmas trees and more to a park downtown.

The beloved tradition returns to Government Plaza on November 29th and will remain there until January 20th.

The city said as in years past, they will install an ice-skating rink where visitors can purchase guest passes on-site or ahead of time online - those are available now - and revel in the rink. The attraction will be open every day except Monday until the week of Christmas, when they will open on Monday but close for Christmas Eve and Day. Some intermittent closures will then follow until the last skate on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Skate passes are $15 each, except on Tuesdays in December, when they'll be available for a discounted $12. The city is also taking the event cashless this year, so bring your card if you plan to purchase tickets, concessions or skate rentals.

The rink is also available for rental for private birthday or corporate parties.

The Tinsel Trail, which is organized by and benefits Tuscaloosa's One Place nonprofit, will also return, bringing dozens of trees playfully decorated by area businesses, organizations and more.
