Tuscaloosa’s Fitzgerald Washington Named to DCH Board of Directors
The DCH Health System has a new local leader on its board of directors after appointing Tuscaloosa's Fitzgerald Washington to the 9-member body this week.
In a Monday announcement, DCH said Washington will replace Dr. Linda Olivet, who has served on the board for 13 years since a 2012 appointment.
Washington, after a record-setting decade-long stint as the state of Alabama's secretary of labor, returned home to work for the Buffalo Rock Company as their Corporate Director of External Affairs & Community Engagement.

"Fitzgerald Washington’s leadership, dedication to community engagement, and proven ability to drive meaningful change will be invaluable as DCH continues to enhance healthcare services for West Alabama," said David Hudson, DCH Board Chair. “His leadership will help influence how DCH provides care to the communities we serve for generations to come.”
In the release, DCH thanked Dr. Olivet for her years of service and welcomed Washington to the new role.
The Board of Directors for the DCH Health System, which operates three hospitals and offers countless other services in the region, consists of nine members who serve six-year terms.
Two are appointed by DCH staff, two by the board itself, two a piece by the Tuscaloosa City Council and the Tuscaloosa County Commission, and one more from the Northport City Council.
