Tuscaloosa to Again Accept Christmas Toys for Parking Tickets Starting Monday
Tuscaloosa will once again bring some holiday cheer to the joyless occasion of paying off a parking ticket and allow citizens to satisfy citations by donating toys to children in need.
This initiative began five years ago when, in 2019, Mayor Walt Maddox announced that during the holiday season, the city would accept donated toys in lieu of cash payments for overtime parking tickets.
Now his initiative will return for the 5th Christmas season, starting this Monday, November 4th. Once again, anyone looking to take care of an $18 overtime parking ticket can instead donate a gift worth $10 or more to Toys for Tots at a collection site at City Hall and see the ticket forgiven.
Any toy valued at or above $20 will be accepted to pay off two overtime tickets.
Those looking to participate can bring their toys to Tuscaloosa Municipal Court at 2122 Gary Fitts Street between November 4 and December 5.
Please also bring a receipt or price tag demonstrating that the toys meet the price requirements for ticket forgiveness.
