The City of Tuscaloosa set the date for a hearing to consider the approval of a planned unit development of the Northriver Marina Condominiums.

According to a resolution in the city council agenda documents, the Planning and Zoning Committee held a public meeting on July 18 and granted tentative approval of the development.

The resolution states the unit will sit on 14.7 acres located at 8500 Mountbatten Road Northeast, near Northriver Yacht Club.

The condominium will consist of 34 residential units that will house four one-bedroom, 22 two-bedroom and 16 three-bedroom spaces. The unit will include an outdoor amenity area, including a private pool with a view of Lake Tuscaloosa.

The developers will also provide a 106-space structured parking deck that will not be visible from the lake, public streets or private properties.

Residents of the future condominiums will be required to maintain a membership at Northriver Yacht Club.

In addition to the condo unit, the developers have plans to renovated the existing on-site restaurant and add a 1500-square feet marina store near the existing marina areas, located in the area of Captain's Cabin on the property. They also plan to make an application for a commercial pier permit for additional boat slips to include lifts.

The date was voted on at Tuesday night's city council meeting and is set for August 28.
