Kids Can Get Hands On With Potential Careers at Northport’s Touch-a-Truck Saturday
Kids in West Alabama and the young at heart will have the opportunity to explore potential career paths with their own two hands Saturday during the annual Touch-a-Truck event in Northport.
Hosted each year at the Northport Civic Center & City Hall on McFalrand Boulevard, Touch-a-Truck returns this Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The free & family-friendly event introduces children to various jobs people work in the area, the people who fill those roles and most importantly, the trucks and other equipment they use to carry out those jobs.

With vehicles including firetrucks and ambulances, police cruisers and garbage collection lorries, Alabama Power bucket trucks and many more, kids can see the real-size version of trucks they may recognize from the toy bin.
"With this event, our citizens get to meet various city employees and learn about their careers and the services they provide, along with local businesses and agencies with the equipment used each day," City Administrator Glenda Webb said. "There are fun activities such as games, mascot visits, searching for buried treasure in a GIANT sandbox, and train rides."
Webb said thanks to several event sponsors and the mayor and city council, the Touch-a-Truck event Saturday will also feature free hot dogs, chips, cotton candy, cookies, cold drinks and snow cones.
