Local University of Alabama alumni and Crimson Tide sports fans will have the chance to meet the school's president and baseball coach at a kickoff event celebrating the upcoming football season next week.

The Tuscaloosa County Chapter of the University of Alabama National Alumni Association will host its annual kickoff party next Tuesday, August 4, at the Tuscaloosa River Market on Jack Warner Parkway, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

University of Alabama President Peter Mohler and Alabama Baseball Head Coach Rob Vaughn will serve as keynote speakers for the evening.

“We’re thrilled to welcome members of the Alabama family back together for one of our favorite events of the year,” said Alyson Baxter, president of the Tuscaloosa County Chapter. “The kickoff is a chance to celebrate our shared connection to the University, reconnect with friends and fellow alumni, and hear from leaders who are helping shape Alabama’s future both on and off the field.”

The family-friendly event will feature a barbecue dinner, live entertainment, local vendors, a silent auction, and autographed sports memorabilia for sale. Chapter membership is not required to attend.

Instead, adult tickets cost $30 and include dinner and event admission. Children under 7 can attend for free, and admission for those ages 8 through 12 is half-price at $15.

Proceeds benefit scholarship opportunities for students in the Tuscaloosa County area.

“This event truly has something for everyone,” Baxter said. “Whether you’re a longtime chapter member, a recent graduate, a current student’s family member or simply a Crimson Tide fan, we invite you to join us for a fun evening of fellowship and Alabama spirit at the Tuscaloosa River Market.”

Tickets are available through the chapter's event registration page.
