Ronald "Ronnie" Thurston Pate, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away at his home on May 8th, 2023. He was 65.

He was born to Wilmer Gene Pate and Bevlyn Boothe Pate on January 24, 1958, at Druid City Hospital.

Ronnie is preceded by his stepmother, Drexel Pate. He is survived by his son Daniel Pate of Richmond, VA.

Ronnie grew up just west of Tuscaloosa and lived in the area until he was 23 and in 1983 he moved down to Baldwin County. Shortly thereafter his only child, Daniel was born. While in the Gulf Shores area, Ronnie started a masonry business that he ran for nearly 20 years - most of his work was done along the gulf coast in Baldwin and Mobile Counties. After Daniel graduated high school and joined the military, Ronnie moved back to his home, Tuscaloosa.

To say that he never met a stranger would be an understatement, to say the least. He didn't worry about the judgment of others - he lived in the moment. Ronnie also loved many of the simpler things in life - sitting by the river or Mobile Bay to watch the sunset...or on a hot day, finding a shade tree and listening to the birds sing. He also loved watching old western TV shows and Alabama football, Roll Tide Roll.

A graveside service will be held at Salem Primitive Baptist in Gordo, AL at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 19, 2023. A visitation will be held at Magnolia Chapel South Funeral Home beforehand from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to donations may be made to The DCH Foundation (https://www.dchsystem.com/the-dch-foundation/).
