Ice Cube Says He’s Performing For Every Generation
During an interview with Townsquare Media personality DreDay, the multi-platinum artist and co-founder of the BIG3 opened up about his upcoming show at Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater on April 30 and the continued growth of his basketball league.
“I’m playing for everybody from N.W.A all the way to today,” Ice Cube said. “Each generation discovers me in a different way… some through the music, some through the movies.”

That wide reach is exactly what he expects when he touches the stage in front of Tuscaloosa’s young, college-heavy crowd. Instead of trying to win over a new audience, Cube says he’s focused on delivering an experience that connects across generations.
That same mindset has carried into the evolution of the BIG3, which continues to expand its reach.
“We had to make sure the game worked first,” he said. “Now we’re doing what we do best… making it an event, making it cool.”
The league has seen steady growth, with ratings increasing year over year and new city-based franchises launching in major markets like Miami, Dallas, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Beyond business, Cube also reflected on his recent albums Man Down and Man Up, explaining they were created to speak to different realities.
“One is about what we’re dealing with,” he said. “The other is about taking accountability and building ourselves up.”
Now, all of that energy heads to Tuscaloosa, where fans will get a live version of that legacy when Ice Cube takes the stage next Thursday.
