Tuberville Calls Residency Challenges Political Harassment
Tommy Tuberville is calling the repeated challenges of his residency in Alabama nothing but political harrassment. Appearing on Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa's Steve and DC "Morning Show" on 95-3 The Bear, the Republican Gubernatorial nominee alleged, "The reason, you know, that they are doing this, somebody's behing the scenes and the money is coming from somewhere. I don't know where its coming from but it makes no difference. We have the facts. We have everything down in black and white."

Defeated GOP gubernatorial nomination candidtate Ken McFeeters has taken his challenge of Tuberville's residency to the Alabama Republican Party Executive Committee twice and lost both. Another McFeeters residency contest was thrown out by a Covington County circuit court judge because the court had no jurisdiction over the case. .
The current challenge comes via a lawsuit in Montgomery County Circuit Court by Brooke Lynn Dorgan and Justin Jude LeBlanc. They claim Tuberville has not lived in Alabama for the last seven years as required by the state constitution and is actually a resident of Florida.
Tuberville listed the documentation he posses as proof of his legal residence is Alabama. "My wife and I's drivers license, we've been paying taxes for eight years in the State of Alabama, eight in a row. You have to be consistent for seven years, well we have eight, and we've proven it! But they don't care about facts," Tuberville remarked.
The one term U.S. Senator called the outcome of the latest challenge a 'no brainer'. He asked Steve and DC why anyone would think he would run for governor if he didn't meet the constituional requirements? " I would never have have done this if I wasn't eligible, I'm not stupid."
The General Election front-runner told the radio audience he laughs at the repeated attempts to get him disqualified. But, he also noted that defending the challenges is costing a lot of money for lawyers, plus, "It puts doubt in peoples minds but that is what they are trying to do."
A status hearing on the lawsuit has been canceled and replaced by a Monday hearing on a motion by Tuberville's attorneys to dismiss the lawsuit.
