Tuscaloosa Mayor To Respond To Crime Stat Controversy Friday Morning
Does it seem to you that we see another headline about shootings almost daily in West Alabama?
Is it perception or reality? I don't know the answer, but I know it feels like we have a big problem.
When we talk or think about "crime" we often go straight to "violent crime" and homicides in our area.
Crime also includes robbery, property crime, theft, and others.
Mayor Maddox has pointed out the fact that many crime categories are down, WAY down, in West Alabama.

In fact, we are only three homicides short of a record year in Tuscaloosa County.
The record in Tuscaloosa County is 26 homicides in one year, and that record was set in 1975.
Stephen Dethrage, the editor of the Tuscaloosa Thread, wrote this great piece on this much-talked-about issue.
Friday morning, Tuscaloosa mayor Walt Maddox will appear on the Steve & DC Show on WFFN-FM (95.3 The Bear) a little after 8:00 am and address the concerns of most folks in West Alabama.
Mayor Maddox is always very open when on with Steve & DC to talk about hot topics.
He doesn't shy away from taking the issue head-on.
If you have a question or comment you would like to have asked of the mayor, comment below or call Steve & DC tomorrow morning at 205-339-4953.
This may be "pie in the sky" thinking, but let's hope and pray that we do not set any crime records in 2024.
