Inspiring Excellence: Kaitlyn Fuller Cheers Peers On at Tuscaloosa’s Bryant High School
INSPIRING EXCELLENCE: Townsquare Media is partnering with Tuscaloosa City Schools, Child Abuse Prevention Services and the Tuscaloosa Police Department to highlight and recognize one Inspiring Excellence Student Of The Month from each of the 21 schools in the district during the 2024-2025 school year. Every month, a few outstanding TCS students will be highlighted in this series until an award is presented at every school.
Classes have only just resumed in Tuscaloosa City Schools, but administrators at Paul W. Bryant High School said it's never too early to celebrate good behavior Tuesday as they presented an outstanding senior with their Inspiring Excellence Award of the year.
Kaitlyn Fuller, a 12th grader at PWBHS, was presented with the award Tuesday in a small ceremony that included her principal and assistant principal, and even a surprise cameo from superintendent Mike Daria.
"Our Inspiring Excellence student walks with integrity, she helps other people and she's always willing to lend a helping hand here at Paul W. Bryant High School," said principal Erin Hines.
"Kaitlyn Fuller is very deserving of the Character Award because she consistently demonstrates kindness, integrity and fairness in every aspect of what she does. She works diligently on academic assignments, participates in school-wide initiatives and helps others," administrators wrote of Fuller. "She is a ray of sunshine on our campus, always willing to brighten someone else's day. Kaitlyn is very respectful and considerate; consistently representing the very best in character & leadership, doing it "The Kingdom Way".
Fuller was presented with a certificate from Townsquare Media and recorded a message with the Big Dawg Dre Day that will air this month on its eight radio stations.
"I'm very appreciative to be recognized for my accomplishments in the school and my hard work," Fuller said in an interview.
And she has worked hard - the senior is taking advantage of TCS programs and partnerships to knock out some college credits at Shelton State, too.
"I've taken classes with dual enrollment, and work hard in the classroom to try to be a good role model for my other peers," she said. "Right now I'm thinking about going into the medical field - I've already done the biologies and am doing other core classes this year."
Fuller's path may lead her to the sonography field she's weighing today or any number of other places, but for now she's happy cheering and studying at PWBHS and doing things the Kingdom Way.
Her advice for other students was simple - to always try to do what's right, even when it isn't the easy thing.
