Ribbon-Cutting Marks Martin Pizzeria’s Grand Opening on Highway 43 in Northport
A family of entrepreneurs from Gordo cut the ribbon on their newly opened pizzeria on Highway 43 in Northport this morning.
Tommy Martin and his wife, Tina, launched Martin Pizzeria in Gordo in August 2024 and recently jumped at the opportunity to open a second shop next to the ALDI supermarket and Frida’s Mexican Grill on Highway 43.
At a ribbon-cutting hosted by ambassadors from the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, Tommy Martin said his parents used to own and operate J&K Video and Pizza in Gordo.
He said it was a regional favorite from the 1980s through the early 2000s, and still generated plenty of conversation after they closed.

The Gordo man said he decided in 2024 to reopen his family's beloved restaurant as Martin Pizzeria. With early success there and a good opportunity in Northport, he and Tina have now opened the second Martin Pizzeria on Highway 43.
"We offer a variety of pizzas on thin, hand-tossed or thick crust," Martin said. "We've got a number of specialty pizzas ranging from our chicken pickle pizza that tastes like a Chick-fil-A sandwich, all the way to a Philly cheesesteak pizza. Same large variety with sandwiches, and we also offer calzones, Chicago cheese sticks, breadsticks, wings and pasta, as well as salad."
They don't offer pizza by the slice yet, but do sell a personal-sized pizza, most of which are between $5 and 10. Martin said a slice or two would cost that much at other pizza parlors, and folks will see the value when they buy a personal pie.
Like the Gordo restaurant, the new place in Northport will be open for long hours on every day but Sunday.
"We're open 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and then as late as 9:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, then closed on Sundays," Martin said.
Martin said their Gordo store is heavily involved in supporting schools and churches, and the original pizzeria has hosted a few field trips for special education students in Pickens County schools. They look forward to doing the same in Northport.
The new restaurant is now open at 13552 US Highway 43 near ALDI and is also available for delivery through DoorDash and Uber Eats.
