West Alabama investigators have arrested a Hale County man and charged him with half a dozen sex crimes after a recent investigation, and they believe he may have other local victims.

Captain Phil Simpson, the commander of the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force, said in a press release that 27-year-old Brodderrick Ward, was charged Friday with second-degree rape, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, two counts of electronic solicitation of a child and two counts of transmitting obscene material to a child.

Simpson said WAHTTF investigators discovered Ward was using social media to communicate with several victims, both locally and in other states.

“We believe there are additional victims here in our area,” he said. “Anyone who
thinks their child may have been a victim is asked to please contact us.”

Anyone with additional information about his alleged actions is encouraged to call the Tuscaloosa Police Department at 205-349-2121.

Ward is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with his bond set at $200,000, and Simpson said charges are expected to be filed against Ward in days to come.
