The novel Coronavirus pandemic continues to place a tremendous strain on local health care facilities, and now DCH is reporting a new all-time high for inpatients receiving COVID-19 care.

As of 5 pm Monday, 170 inpatients were being treated at DCH facilities, 31 of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. Nine COVID-19 patients are on ventilators and 22 COVID-19 positive patients are on a BiPAP.

Inpatient numbers at DCH have continued to climb since Thanksgiving. Earlier this month, hospital officials pleaded with the public to do their part in preventing the spread of the virus. The public was also asked to save ER visits for life-threatening emergencies in an attempt to reduce the strain placed on health care workers.
