Alabama softball gets another commitment for Team 27 as Michigan's LHP/UT Lauren Esman has decided to use her final two years of eligibility with the Crimson Tide.

Esman started 80 games and played over 100 with Michigan, coming in as a .277 hitter with 34 total RBIs and five homeruns in her three year career so far. She also has a few accomplishments before and during her time with the Wolverines, including being named the Michigan Gatorade player of the year in 2019, Michigan Miss Softball in 2019 and two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2021 and 2022.

Her commitment to the team helps a roster that suffered from having six players enter the transfer portal after the conclusion of last season, and comes just a couple days after the Tide added former Ball State outfielder Faith Hensley from the transfer portal.

Adding Esman brings more veteran experience to Alabama's pitching room, which is bringing back Montana Fouts, Jaala Torrence and Alex Salter, while it lost Lexi Kilfoyl to Oklahoma State.

Her addition also brings more veteran experience to the team in general as her and Jenna Johnson are the only two seniors coming into the season, with four super senior players above them.

Alabama softball now has 20 players on the roster for Team 27, the same number it had last season. Fouts, Ashley Prange and Ally Shipman are all returning as super seniors and are expected to lead the Tide into the 2022-23 season.
