Alabama softball player, Ashley Prange, spoke about mental health in front of many young softball players at the Play for Peyton Memorial Softball Tournament this past weekend.

The Play for Peyton Memorial Softball Tournament was founded by The Peyton Riekhof Foundation for Youth Hope. This foundation was created in memory of Peyton Riekhof, a young woman who tragically lost her battle with depression in 2013.

According to the website, “The foundation is working to educate our community and schools on youth and teen mental health issues and suicide prevention. We provide and support community services and programs that decrease the stigma surrounding mental illness.”

Prange, a graduate student from New Palestine, Ind., spent her first three seasons at Ohio State before transferring to Alabama in the summer of 2021.

Prange proved to be a big part of Team 26, as she finished with the second highest batting average (.333), tied for the second most home-runs (8), and earned the most walks (31) on the team. The newcomer was one of two Alabama players that earned a spot on the All-SEC First Team.
