William “Danny” Daniel Black, Jr., age 70, of Coker, Alabama, passed away October 26, 2023 at Hospice of West Alabama.

His Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Magnolia Chapel North with Bro. Tim Holden officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his father, W. D. Black Sr.; mother, LouNell Black; brothers, Leon Black and Ted Black; and sister, Lisa Gunderson.

Survivors include his daughter, Amy Wallace (Adam) of Berry, AL; son, Adam Black of Tuscaloosa, AL; brother, Terry Black (Tonya) of Northport, AL; and grandchildren, Kayley Stegall, Allie Green, Hollie Stegall, Braxton Wallace, Lauren Stegall, Kara Wallace, Hope Wallace, Alexis Simmons, Gavin Black, Ryken Black, and Camron White.

Danny was a loving father and a wonderful Paw Paw. He grew up in Northport and later moved to Coker where he had lived ever since and raised his kids. He spent the majority of his life working for the International Union of Operating Engineers. He could run any heavy equipment you put him in. If he wasn’t running the equipment, he was hauling it. He retired from Local 312 in 2015. He then was able to devote more of his time to family, watching Alabama football and riding his Harley. He was quite the character. He was always cracking a joke or messing with someone. To know him was to love him. He will be dearly missed.

A special thank you to Morgan, Kenny, and all the other Hospice of West Alabama employees who were involved in his care. Y’all were more than caregivers, y’all were family.

Honorary pallbearers are C. W. Davis, Terry Vaughn, Barry Herron, Ray Bell, International Union of Operating Engineers Local #312.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of West Alabama.
