We Now Have Our Eyes on Tropical Storm Laura

We have an update on the tropics as we now have Tropical Storm Laura, who has developed east of the Leeward Islands.  It is too early to project any impact to the United States seriously.  However, there is potential for Tropical Storm Laura next week to approach Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the Weather Channel, “Tropical Storm Laura will affect the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands with rain and gusty winds into this weekend. Laura may then head toward Florida and the Gulf of Mexico early next week, possibly as a hurricane. However, its forecast intensity and track at that time are highly uncertain. “

The National Weather Service alerted us that “the details of the long-range track and intensity forecasts are more uncertain than usual since the system could move over portions of the Greater Antilles this weekend.”

We will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Laura and all tropical disturbances.
