Adult And Youth Charged After Saturday Shooting in Uniontown
For the second time this summer the small Perry County town of Uniontown has been shaken by a shooting. This time 26-year-old Sherman Deshuwn Cain and a 16-year-old are facing charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle times two. Uniontown police allege the pair coordinated the shooting near R.C. Hatch High School last Saturday at a youth basketball game..
The shots fired struck two occupied vehicles and narrowly missed a woman and her two young children.
The youth claimed he felt threatened and afraid because two people were staring mennicingly at him but officers say witnesses told them there had been an ongoing dispute. Police Chief Michael Kiser said the youth called the adult to ask for help.
“A plan was devised. And the adult told him where to stand so he wouldn’t get hit during the shooting. They shot at the vehicle as it approached the stop sign. Two vehicles were shot into.”
A mother and her two children were in one of the vehicles struck by the bullets but Kiser reports none were hit.
The police report alleges that Cain provided the weapon used by the youth.
Both suspects are being held without bond pending an Anaiah’s Law hearing.
In May, 33-year-old DeAndre Langhorne was arrested for manslaughter in the shooting death of Erika Lathem on Water Avenue.
