Tuscaloosa’s first Beef ‘O’ Brady’s will open on Monday, October 26, in the McFarland Boulevard building that recently housed an Indian restaurant and an O'Charley’s before that.

Owner Mike Patel, who ran the Curry Kitchen in the same space, converted the restaurant to the sports bar franchise and said the staff begins training next week. The Curry Kitchen closed this summer after its opening in September 2024.

Patel said the grand opening later this month will be marked with a Chamber of Commerce event, live music or a DJ and much more to celebrate the long-awaited arrival of this new option for the Tuscaloosa area.

“We know people have been waiting almost five months since the news broke that Beef ‘O’ Brady’s was coming, and it’s almost ready now,” Patel said.

The restaurant is at 3799 McFarland Boulevard East, in a building that sat empty after O’Charley’s closed before Patel opened Curry Kitchen there two years ago.

50 Screens and a Place for the Family

Patel said the appeal of the franchise is that it works for groups that include children.

“Beef O’Brady’s is basically a family-and-friends concept. You can come with your family, come with your kids, and enjoy it at the same time,” he said. “It’s not like some restaurants where you can’t really bring kids. It’s easygoing, but also definitely sports-focused.”

The restaurant has more than 50 televisions, and Patel said staff will set up individual tables with whatever game a party wants to watch.

“You can watch different games at the same time,” he said. “However you want it set up, we can personalize it for your table so you're always watching the games you want to see.”

The menu runs to burgers, pizza, wings, salads, tacos and sandwiches. Patel said he also extended the outdoor patio and converted part of the interior into a private room for corporate meetings and parties that seats about 25.

Deals Every Day

Promotional material for the Tuscaloosa restaurant lists a daily special for all seven days: $8.99 burgers on Monday, $8.99 tacos on Tuesday, 99-cent wings on Wednesday, $12.99 Philly cheesesteaks on Thursday, $12.99 fish and chips on Friday, $12.99 cheeseburger and wings on Saturday, and a kids combo on Sunday.

Happy hour runs from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. with discounted draft beers, house wines, margaritas, sangrias and a short list of appetizers.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., staying open until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The McFarland Boulevard entrance can be awkward because there's no left turn into the parking lot for people traveling southeast out of town towards Duncaville, but Patel said drivers can  pass under the red interstate arch bridge and make a U-turn to come back. The parking lot has been resurfaced and restriped.

The Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Brand

Beef ‘O’ Brady’s goes back to 1985, when a couple opened a family-friendly sports pub in Brandon, Florida and packed the place with televisions and satellite dishes so customers could follow several games at once.

The chain has since spread across the Southeast and Midwest, with several Alabama locations already open. This is the first in Tuscaloosa.

Patel’s group is also building another location in Columbus, Mississippi, from the ground up to accompany another concept he didn't name on Thursday.

Before Curry Kitchen, Patel said, he had no restaurant experience in Tuscaloosa. He owns a supermarket and a countryside deli in Pickens County.
