Tuscaloosa Police Identify Victims of Two Recent Fatal Wrecks
The Tuscaloosa Police Department has identified the victims of two fatal traffic accidents that took place in the city this week.
In separate press releases, TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor named the victims killed in an August 9th accident on Jack Warner Parkway and a Tuesday motorcycle accident on Interstate 359.
In the first, Taylor said 47-year-old Dana Mark Silas, a Northport man, was involved in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Northeast Jack Warner Parkway and 25th Avenue around 4:40 p.m. on August 9th.
Silas was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the second wreck, Taylor said a 29-year-old Greensboro man, Alexander Chase Balentine was driving a TaoTao TBR7D motorcycle that was struck from behind near the Investigator Dornell Cousette exit of I-359 Tuesday night.
Taylor said Balentine was thrown off of his motorcycle and died at the scene.
TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded and is conducting a follow-up investigation into both fatal accidents - the Unit was formerly called the Accident Reconstruction Unit and their involvement does not necessarily mean criminal charges are expected.
