In the first, Taylor said 47-year-old Dana Mark Silas, a Northport man, was involved in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Northeast Jack Warner Parkway and 25th Avenue around 4:40 p.m. on August 9th.

Silas was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the second wreck, Taylor said a 29-year-old Greensboro man, Alexander Chase Balentine was driving a TaoTao TBR7D motorcycle that was struck from behind near the Investigator Dornell Cousette exit of I-359 Tuesday night.

Taylor said Balentine was thrown off of his motorcycle and died at the scene.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded and is conducting a follow-up investigation into both fatal accidents - the Unit was formerly called the Accident Reconstruction Unit and their involvement does not necessarily mean criminal charges are expected.
