The City of Tuscaloosa announced it will open several storm shelters at noon on Saturday, March 15, to give residents ample time to prepare for today's approaching high-risk severe weather event.

The following locations will open at noon:

  • Alberta School of Performing Arts
  • Bryant High School
  • McDonald Hughes Community Center
  • Northridge High School
  • Skyland Elementary School
  • University Place Elementary

The storm shelter at the McDonald Hughes Community Center is pet-friendly. Pets should be brought either in a carrying case or kept on a leash to ensure the safety of others.

The City of Tuscaloosa urges residents to have a reliable way to receive weather alerts as well as a plan to keep their families safe.
