Tuscaloosa Man Charged with Possessing Trove of Child Pornography
A Tuscaloosa man was jailed Friday after a lengthy investigation by the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force and the FBI found enough evidence to charge him with multiple counts of possession of child pornography.
Captain Phil Simpson, the commander of the task force, said the investigation began when FBI agents in Birmingham received a tip that Jshonathan [sic] Charles Roach may have been in possession of explicit material depicting minors.
The FBI, the local human trafficking task force and the federal Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force all worked together and eventually gathered enough evidence to arrest Roach Friday.
The 34-year-old Tuscaloosa man was charged with nine counts of possession of child pornography, and bond was set at $15,000 for each charge for a total bond of $135,000.
Simpson said the case is ongoing and additional charges are likely to be filed against Roach soon.
