Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Bail Bond Scam
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office is warning residents not to fall victims to a phone scam.
Sheriff Ron Abernathy says his office is aware of scams targeting families of persons booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail. The scammers pretend to be representatives of bonding companies.
" I encourage you to verify and contact the company on our list of licensed bonding companies approved to conduct business within Tuscaloosa County prior to engaging in any type of business, contract, or making payment to any bonding company," Sheriff Abernathy said.
Anyone who believes s/he is a victim of this scam is encouraged to contact the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department's Criminal Investigations Unit at (205) 464-8650.
