A Northport Pastor is facing a felony theft charge after being accused of misappropriating church funds.

Members of The Word Community Church, located on Highway 69 North in Northport, contacted the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office several months ago with concerns about how church funds were being used by their pastor, Scott Willmore.

After reviewing church financial records, TCSO investigators presented their findings to the Tuscaloosa County Grand Jury, which indicted Willmore on a single felony theft charge.

Willmore turned himself in to the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Monday, June 8, and was released on a $30,000 bond.

An indictment is not an official finding of guilt, and Willmore is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
