Temperatures in Tuscaloosa and West Alabama are set to increase dramatically this week, and many places could see heat index values of 105 degrees or higher.

According to ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Meteorologist James Spann, temperatures will climb well over the 90 degree threshold:

Spann also brought up for attention the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke:

According to Spann this is not without precedent, as it is late July and residents should expect heat and humidity.

It's also very important to remember that if you start to feel fatigued from the heat to get to a cool place or an air conditioned room as soon as possible.
