The National Weather Service in Birmingham has reported "mostly sunny" weather today. Showers and thunderstorms are possible in southeast counties of Central Alabama, but West Alabama is not likely to see any.

NWS in Birmingham is predicting daytime high temperatures that range "from the middle 80s northwest to the lower 90s [in the] south."

James Spann reported via Facebook that tropical storm Idalia is heading eastward away from the U.S.

"Other than Idalia, no tropical systems will threaten the U.S. for at least the next seven days," Spann said.
