
Police, DHR Investigating After Toddlers Found Alone with Shotgun at Tuscaloosa Hotel
Police in Tuscaloosa and the Department of Human Resources are investigating after two toddlers were reportedly found alone in a local hotel room with a shotgun.
A reader tip indicated that two children under the age of 5 years old were found in a hotel on Veterans Memorial Parkway in Tuscaloosa by hotel staff.
Reportedly. there was no adult with the children at the time they were found.

Also in the room was a pump-action shotgun, on top of cabinets and out of the reach of the children.
A spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department said there have not been any charges filed as of 6:45 p.m. Thursday, but confirmed TPD was called to the hotel around 2:45 p.m. to investigate "a case of potential neglect."
The matter remains under investigation, and the TPD spokesperson said DHR is also on the scene to see to the welfare of the toddlers involved.

Editor's note: the first versions of this story said the shotgun was found on a counter - those with knowledge of the matter clarified it was left on top of some cabinets and close to the ceiling, and was moved to the counter after the children were discovered.
