A semi truck driver has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after a wreck in Clarke County yesterday.

According to a press release from the Thomasville Police Department, 45-year-old Andrii Dmyterko of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was driving a fully loaded semi truck that struck four vehicles stopped at a red light on US Highway 43 at the intersection of South Industrial Park Drive in Thomasville at 11:51 a.m. Tuesday, May 6.

In total, five vehicles were involved in the catastrophic crash.

The driver of the first vehicle hit by the semi,  37-year-old Ashley Marie Springer McDonald, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle impacted in the collision, 53-year-old Woody Earl Beck III, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Four others were transported to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Dmyterko is currently in the United States on a Work Visa, as is his passenger in the semi, 31-year-old Denys Kucher of Westchester, Pennsylvania.

Dmyterko is charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter and is currently being held at the Clarke County Jail. Thomasville PD continues to investigate the accident, and additional charges against Dmyterko could be added or upgraded as the investigation proceeds.
