A Tuscaloosa man has been arrested and charged with having sex with and producing pornography with a minor while he was on bond for similar crimes.

The West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force announced the arrest of 30-year-old Jalan Christopher Lewis on Monday afternoon.

Police say Lewis, a Tuscaloosa man, is charged with two counts of second-degree rape, traveling to meet a minor for an unlawful sex act, facilitating the travel of a minor for an unlawful sex act, production of child sexual abuse material and dissemination of child sexual abuse material.

The Task Force has previously arrested Lewis in August, one of eight men charged with using social media to arrange sex with minors after an undercover operation.

On Monday, Task Force Commander Captain Phil Simpson said following that investigation, Lewis was charged with traveling to meet a minor for an unlawful sex
act and electronic solicitation of a child and was indicted by a grand jury in November. Prosecution of those cases is now pending in Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court.

Now the WAHTTF said while out on bond, Lewis allegedly continued to prey on minors.

"During an unrelated recent investigation, Task Force investigators discovered Lewis had solicited a minor via social media and met with her for sex on multiple occasions while he was out on bond," Simpson said in a release. “These cases demonstrate why our proactive investigations are so important. This case confirms what we've long known: suspects caught in undercover operations are often seeking real victims in our community."

Lewis is being held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond on the above-listed charges.
