Political Divide Will Mark Trump State Of The Union Tonight
When President Trump is announced on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives tonight for his State of the Union Address, he will walk into a chamber that is more deeply divided at any time since the Civil War. The government is even in a limited shutdown over those differences.
Each issue Trump is expected to address such as immigration, tariffs, economy, healthcare, and foreign policy are deeply divided issues.
Republican and Democrat lawmakers are so divided that Las Vegas gamblers are taking bets on how many times Trump will be booed.

Democrat Response
Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger will deliver the Democratic response to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address, just months after resoundingly winning an office previously held by a Republican.
At least a dozen Democrats have announced they will boycott the 8:00pm CDT speech. However, there has been no indication that West Alabama Democrat Congresswoman Terri Sewell will be one of them. Her name has not appeared on lists of those boycotting, and she has typically attended such addresses, including during the first Trump administration.
The boycotting Democrats will participate in a counterprogram at the National Mall. Democratic leadership, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, has encouraged Democrat members to attend to show defiance.
Boycotts are not new; some House and Senate Republicans did not attend former President Joe Biden’s State of the Union addresses over the years citing various reasons.
Guests Invited to Make a Point
Guests invited to attend the annual speech to a joint session of congress typically are there to make various political statements. For instance, various Democrats have invited Several Jeffrey Epstein survivors, the independent journalists who uncovered the alleged $250 million Minnesota Somali immigrant fraud scheme that involved the misappropriation of COVID funds have been invited by Republicans.
Claire Lai, the daughter of Chinese pro-democracy advocate Jimmy Lai, who is in a Chinese prison for his efforts, the family of recently deceased civil right leader Jesse Jackson, people detained by ICE, executives whose companies have been impacted by trade tariffs, and a 71-year-old mother of three reportedly struggling financially due to the economy have all received invitations
And then there is the Gold Medal winning U.S. Men's Hockey Team invited by President Trump.
