Oil & Gas Prices Expected to Rise The Rest Of Summer
The cost of a barrel of crude oil has hit the $100 mark, again. The escalating attacks between Iran and their Houthi allies with the U.S. and its Middle East allies are being blamed for the bulk of the rapid rise in the cost of a gallon of gas.
Canadians are paying $4.80 (USD) per gallon while the U.S. national average has risen 15% in a week to $4.09 this morning.
The highest prices at the pump in the U.S. continue in California. That is where the rising crude oil cost and environmental regulations have have combined to rocket a gallon to $6.70 in Mono County, $1.22 cents above the already high state average of $5.57. That is 17-cents above a week ago.
While nothing like Canada and California, Alabamians are shelling out an average of $3.75 a gallon, up 17-cents from last week and 22-cents a gallon above a month ago.
Here in West Alabama, Perry County has again claimed the most expensive gas moniker at #.93 a gallon. Greene County is right behind ringing up $3.90 a gallon average.
The least expensive fill-up in West Alabama is in Tuscaloosa County where a 21-cent increae over the last week has brought the price to $3.67 a gallon. That makes motorist fondly remember last year's $2.74 a gallon.
If you are hitting the road to the Alabama Gulf Coast this weekend, a fill-up there will cost you $3.75 a gallon. If you heading to the Smokey Mountains to cool off, a gallon in Sevier County where Gatlinburg is located will do you out of $3.65 a gallon.

While Alabama's physical location near refineries keeps gas prices lower, Triple-A Alabama is predicting that gas prices will remain volatile and could continue to climb during the second half of summer, depending on the Middle East conflict and if tropical weather disrupts oil and gas production.
