Firefighters in Northport are working to extinguish a large vehicle fire at a gas station on McFarland Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.

Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, said calls came in shortly after 2 p.m. reporting a car parked at the pumps of the C-Mart gas stations in the 2800 block of McFarland Boulevard was engulfed in flames.

Carpenter said Northport Fire Rescue responded to the fire, and a spokesperson for the fire department said it was still an active call shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Nether NPD nor NFR could immediately say if anyone was injured in the conflagration.
